Asian Shoppers Are Reshaping CPG, Numerator Data Shows
Asian consumers have added $76 billion in spending since 2019 across consumer packaged goods, general merchandise and quick service restaurants, according to new Numerator data. For brands weighing where to invest, the numbers point to a shopper who is changing where, how and what they buy, and doing it quickly.
How much has Asian consumer spending grown?
Numerator puts the added spending at $76 billion since 2019. Looking ahead, the firm describes a scenario in which Asian consumer spending reaches $220 billion by 2030, a 27 percent increase that Numerator calls the fastest of any ethnicity. That figure is a projection scenario, not a reported result, and should be read that way. Asian shoppers also spend about $35 per trip, per the same data.
Where are Asian shoppers buying?
Club retailers stand out. Numerator found that 24 percent of Asian CPG spend goes to club stores, more than twice the share among all shoppers. The stock-up habit is growing too: 34 percent of Asian consumers say they are stocking up more often, up 11 points from July 2025.
For retailers and the brands that sell through them, that is a clear signal. Bulk formats are not a side channel for this audience. They are a core one.
Are Asian consumers switching to private label and emerging brands?
Yes, and at scale. More than $1 billion of Asian CPG spend has moved to emerging and private label brands over the past three years. Seventy percent of Asian shoppers say private label delivers the same value as national brands. Emerging brand penetration among Asian consumers rose from 82 percent in 2021 to 97 percent in 2026.
Loyalty to legacy names, in other words, is no longer a safe assumption. Newer and store brands are earning a place in the cart.
Why the AI finding matters for marketers
One more data point deserves attention from anyone building a media plan. Forty-eight percent of Asian consumers use AI daily or weekly, compared with 30 percent of consumers overall. If discovery and product research are moving into AI tools for this audience, the stakes rise for how brands show up there.
What brands should take from this
A few cautions apply. The coverage of this data does not define how Numerator counts Asian consumers or households and does not give a survey period or methodology, so the findings are best treated as directional until more detail is published. It also does not break out category dollar splits.
Even so, the direction is consistent across every measure: more spending, more club and private label, more emerging brands, more AI. Brands that treat Asian shoppers as a niche segment risk missing a fast moving part of the market. At 88tumble, we will keep tracking how these shifts show up in the products, retailers and creators reaching this audience.
